Looks like over the weekend the Obama fam finally got their puppy. The Portuguese water dog was a present from Ted Kennedy and although he was originally named Charlie, the Obama’s decided to change his name to Bo, after Bo Diddley. Very cute.

R.I.P Friend

Yesterday was a sad day—in fact it was not a sad day but a lovely day spent escaping the city (via car!), just overshadowed by some seriously sad news. Well sad for me, but maybe not for a normal person. Anyway, my little bike who I love so much but who has also given me a fair share of trouble—like a sick pet or an annoying boyfriend—is officially dead. And it was just starting to get warm enough to ride again. I loved that bike so much I couldn’t help but cry when I heard the news and my friends who were with me when I got the call couldn’t help but think an actual someone had died when they saw my face.

So how does I bike die, you ask? Well it happens when you lock your bike up at the train station like you do every morning, but while you’re away one of those car driving people hops the curb and slams into it. At first we thought they just bent the wheel, but after further inspection by the guys at my local over-priced bike shop, I got the call saying that is was not just the wheel but that silly reckless driver actually cracked the whole bike frame and the only thing holding my poor baby together was the seat. They didn’t even leave a note! So sad, I really loved my bike.

Maybe it will go to this beautifully green bicycle graveyard...

Camp Out!

This picture feels like my childhood (minus the mother). So many summer nights I slept in a tent that looked very much like that one next to my dad and my bro in pretty much every National Park on the West Coast. Spending the days having botany pop quizzes while hiking, diving into freezing rivers and cooking dinner on our little green camping stove. My favorite was our Sequoia and Kings Canyon trip where we forgot all our tapes except for the Best of Simon and Garfunkel, no wonder I know every word to every song they’ve ever written. So anyway I change my mind—fuck the beach, let’s go camping.

Four Down, 46 to Go

Vermont today became the fourth state to legalize gay marriage — and the first to do so with a legislature’s vote. The Burlington Free Press reports that Gov. Jim Douglas’ veto of a bill allowing gays and lesbians to marry was overturned by a 23-5 vote in the state Senate and 100-49 in the House.

Under Vermont law, two-thirds of each chamber had to vote for override.

Vermont becomes the fourth state to permit same-sex marriage, joining Massachusetts, Connecticut and Iowa. Their approval of gay marriage came from the courts.

Those Darn Kids Are Right

I am officially a teeny bopper, being a Gossip Girl fanatic didn’t quite do it, either did the fact that I happen to write for a bunch of them, but this little new addition to my personality really puts me over the edge into ridiculousness. I happened to watch Twilight on Friday, and much to my surprise I totally fell for it and for Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) hard. I mean, I write about the guy all the time and have seen millions of pics. But in the movie, it’s almost uncomfortable to watch him he's just so breathtaking. I am not alone on this one either (I am not talking about his million screaming fans), Courtney and Megan felt the same way. I think I may have to go see the next installment in the theater. That is a really big screen...

I Need Some Baby Time

I did in fact have a lovely weekend, but only at the expense of not seeing these cuties. I miss the little buggers. I need one more day in the weekend, and honestly with my newly-instated ridiculous workload, it feels like I need a few more days added onto the work week. That is no good. Well these cute pics of my nieces and co. will just have to help me get through the day. And yes, I somehow still find time to blog.

Random Sunday

Not so random at all, but this is what I did all weekend, well at least it felt like it. After a dreary Saturday, everything picked up with a late night backyard bonfire and delicious meal followed by a beautiful lazy spring day (thank you!) with three more of those delicious meals a la Sunny. I can't remember when, if ever, have I eaten three times in the same day and the same lovely place with the same amazing people. What a difference a backyard makes. Even though it did feel like there was a certain someone missing, it was what a weekend should be. And with so many more to come...

There is something about my brother and fish—what is it you ask? Well that is hard to explain. It’s always been like that, from one of my fondest childhood memories when he fed my little goldfish to his fresh water creatures and instead of eating them whole they just nibbled and the little guys ended up swimming around his tank with chunks bitten off of their flesh for hours to his infamous NYC “I would rather starve than not have my fish” quote.

Here’s his latest aquatic creation (sorry Mare) found next to the pew and the organ on the stage in his loft. Oh San Francisco.

Obviously, I am in weird mood today. Maybe it's the rain? Maybe it's the hangover?

If Only I Had 30 Girlfriends...

I love this pic, even though it feels a bit cultish to me, or maybe a little bit polygamy like (I love proper English too). It is actually just a listing on eBay. Who wants 30 house dresses (for your 30 wives)? Apparently someone did and forked out $350 for them. Weird. Or maybe it's not weird at all and I have just been staring at a computer screen for way too long. Must get out of here.

Why are we so behind?

STOCKHOLM (AP) -- Sweden has become the fifth European country to allow gay marriage.

Parliament on Wednesday adopted a new law that gives same-sex couples the same marriage rights as heterosexuals.

The Parliament's Web site says the new law will take effect on May 1.

The Netherlands, Norway, Belgium and Spain also allow gay marriages.
