Party! Party!

Just in case you wanted to do shadow puppets at tonight's Working Class Mag partay. Be there, it's not that hard, I promise.

Thrift n' Flea

Shops and markets, two of my favorite things...

This blog world is a strange and lovely place — you get to glimpse into the lives of people who you are not likely to meet and find inspiration in the little things that make them happy, all the while putting your own ideas and musings out there without feeling too vulnerable. It took me a while to get here, but now I feel quite at home sharing my life and following others’. Anyway I do have a point: a few days ago I was given this little blog award by Nicki Jane of The Cherry Blog. A very sweet gesture it was and always nice to know that my only readers aren’t Sarah and Daniel (even though I love you both so). So I guess the deal is I am supposed to pass it on to other great blogs I read. So I will have to say to Bricolage, Hearts & Villains and of course the amazing Authenticity Police Happy Blog Day! Oh and how could I forget the Dub C.

B is for Berlin

My brothers Andrew and Michael (probably the two most “interesting” people in my life) are in Berlin right causing all sorts of trouble that only the two of them will know. All the info I’ve gotten so far is a text from Mike: Williamsburg has nothing on Berlin.

It makes me smile and shake my head thinking about them. I wish I was there, but at the same time probably a little relieved that I am not. No, that is not true — I would give anything to be there right now. But they do need some brother bonding time. I wonder when the last time that even happened considering they living almost a 12 hour plane ride from each other.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Bad pic, great day last summer in Prospect Park. Lots more ahead for me and my pops.

Dance Party!

Dresses and dancing on warm nights make me happy...

Summer of Love

Pattie Boyd was the definition of a muse. She was married to George Harrison (he wrote the song "Something" for her) and Eric Clapton (he wrote the whole album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs and the song "Wonderful Tonight" for her). She did LCD with George and John Lennon the first time they all did it (isn’t that a strange thought to even think), and supposedly both John and Mick Jagger had crushes on her. Oh to be her for a day...I’d take the George time over the Eric era. I love this pic of the two of them frolicking in their silly hats and bathing suits.

Also check out the pic of them below. Nice glasses, right? Well, MK has trying to bring those back for awhile now and I am not sure that people will bite. I love 1960s style, but I don’t know about the round colored shades. What do you think? George’s beaded necklace however, I’ll take it!

A Wall O'

I have a wall of old paintings, a wall of gold mirrors and a wall of old empty frames in my room (yes I live in NYC and have a big room), so I am definitely into organized chaos, sporadic conformity or whatever not really oxy-moron you want to call it. I am usually not the only one when it comes to anything and naturally I stumbled across these photos on the Internet. Perhaps if ever get my own house (please let it be an old San Francisco Victorian) I could have a wall of clocks, plates or weird glass things…

Here’s a bad pic from awhile ago (so there are lots more paintings now) of what one of my walls looks like just in case you are one of my many readers who's never seen where I sleep.

In With the Old

I’m longing for the days of pencil sharpeners and rotary phones...

Happy Birthday Maisie!

The little miss who can rock a mullet like no other turned two today. Feliz Cumpleanos!

Random Sunday

CONEY ISLAND, N.Y.—Crowds of people clustered together on the beach, 1977.

I ended up in Staten Island (yes) this weekend, but with 88 degree weather it should have been Coney...

A Girl Can Never Have Too Many Shoes...

…and certainly not too many vintage 1970s platforms. I have been obsessed such shoes for few seasons now and just cannot stop purchasing more and more, it is a bit ridiculous, naturally. But even though there are about ten pairs I love that have been gathering dust in my “closet” begging for warm sockless days , I still kick myself about these amazing wooden sky-highs I used to own in college and got rid of before moving to NYC. Why oh why? Makes me a little nervous about the massive amounts of clothes I am in the process of getting rid of for spring cleaning (I finally was able to break out the summer clothes and stuff the wretched winter garb into the depths of my hall closet. Yay!). But anyway, these are my latest and will be arriving shortly. I am actually loving buying vintage on Etsy rather than ebay these days—some of the stuff is very reasonably priced and sometimes all that bidding and waiting is just annoying. If you aren’t familiar with Etsy and love vintage and home-made goods you have to check it out.

P.S. They have 4 ½ inch heels which I am a little nervous about, but hopefully I can pull them off without stumbling too much.

This Made Me Smile...

I’m not so big into horses, or snow for that matter, but for some reason this photo makes me feel better. Something about those rosy cheeks maybe makes me want to take a big deep breath.

Nurse Megan

I am back after two days spent away from a computer in a world I hope to never go to again. But now I am a nurse who knows how to clean battle wounds! And hopefully soon again a Night Club Nurse. Too bad a hate hospitals...

My Daily O

Great man, great book.

Bath Time

It’s the one thing good about Sarah leaving, I get to move into her room with a bathroom, bath included. No more trekking up the stairs 18 times a day, along with relaxing baths after stressful days….

Good Thoughts for Dad...

Here are some on this rainy waiting day...

Random Day After Sunday

Wasn’t in front of a computer all weekend – you’d think that would mean that I had a nice past couple days, but really they were just weird with sad undertones of people I love leaving New York. I definitely have a hard time with change. But I did get a new computer and a new bike (yay!), which may be the start of a good change. So now I am officially broke and planning on dolling myself up and hitting the streets with such a sign as one of these.

P.S. Today is a day to think positive thoughts for my pops.

I'll Actually Leave You Wanting More...

Right? Oh the wind.

See her blog.

P.S. Apparently these two chicks are friends in Paris. Is it a very windy city?

Another Zoo Day

I get to leave my computer behind and spend the day with the lions and tigers and bears and this guy at the Bronx Zoo with my papa. Not bad for a warm (yes it is actually supposed to by 70 degrees today. Hallelujah!) Friday afternoon. Sometimes my work ain’t so bad, yup this is actually for work. Seeya!

Tired of Waiting, Tired of Waiting For You

I love the Kinks and I love my new shoes. I have been on a mission for some high heel lace-up boots for what feels like forever now. I thought I found them a few times, but nothing turned out successfully. Not until today when an afternoon package delivered what I have been searching for oh so long, the risky maneuver of buying them online paid off. And they weren’t my usual vintage ebay purchase, I actually got them new off Amazon.com marked down to $45 from $150. Not bad, right? I bought a record player and many books there, but shoes? I would have never guessed. Hmmm, if this buying non-vintage clothes sticks (it won’t), maybe Amazon is the way to go? I didn't even have to pay for shipping and they got here in just two days. We shall see.

Anyway, now my every growing boot collection is finally complete (for a bit) and just in time for summer! Here are a couple pics that tortured me during my high heel lace-up bootless days. Mine are different than these, just another version of my usual granny witch boot though.

I think this chick works in my building.

NYC Just Doesn't Party Like it Used To

Love this NY Mag spread from a couple months back.

Busy Busy Day

But at least I had time to feel like this for a bit, wish it could have been with these folks in central park in 196something though...

Fab!

Drew goes retro at the Grey Gardens premiere and I love it. She even pulled off the veil with elegance. Lovely.

I want more than anything to have all my lady friends dress up like this, with the gents in smart suits and hats for have an evening of gambling, drinking scotch, eating Cornish game hen and listening to some good old jazz by candlelight…

I love these stills from the film too.
