This Made Me Laugh Part 1000

This is not some random thing I found on the Internet, Mary's little sis actually snapped this pic in SF. Brilliant. God I love San Francisco. And got to love that he had the balls to sign his name.

No Rain Dance

Tomorrow is my birthday, so I’m getting all the umbrella action out of the way now so we can have a clear and sunny day...

See look at how sad Chloe looks with her umbrella.

And if we have to use them let’s just hope it’s to keep the sun out of our eyes.

A Racist? I Think Not

"Our gender and national origins may and will make a difference in our judging. Justice O'Connor has often been cited as saying that a wise old man and wise old woman will reach the same conclusion in deciding cases. I am also not so sure that I agree with the statement. First, as Professor [Martha] Minnow has noted, there can never be a universal definition of wise. Second, I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life." [U.C. Berkeley School of Law, 10/26/2001]

I couldn’t agree more with Judge Sonia Sotomayor, Obama’s Supreme Court pick . Rush Limbaugh is a dick.

Isn't it Ironic?

I don’t think I have ever been to any modern art museum and not seen an Andy Warhol piece, let alone the usual entire exhibit. But is this actually irony? I feel like most of the scenario’s in Alanis’s (bless her heart) famed song were not in fact ironic. That actually may be the ironic part. Hmmmmm. Anyway read this letter.

Thanks New Voyager.

Living on the Ledge

I'll Take Him

When flipping through Paris Vogue my usual reaction isn’t “awwwe,” but this photo certainly got it out of me. That little pooch gives a whole new (and better) meaning to purse dogs. Now I just need to find a roommate to get one, so I can enjoy all the fruits without the labor...

Scary...

First this now this:

Now, some abortion rights advocates are quietly expressing unease that Judge Sotomayor may not be a reliable vote to uphold Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 abortion rights decision. In a letter, Nancy Keenan, president of Naral Pro-Choice America, urged supporters to press senators to demand that Judge Sotomayor reveal her views on privacy rights before any confirmation vote.

Fort Fun!

Oh NYC. Despite my love/hate relationship with this fair city, it is refreshing to know that there will always be a new place to discover and explore if my heart desires. And I feel my heart desiring to do so more and more each day. Here are a few photos from our Fort Tilden beach adventure over the weekend. I highly recommend it if you just don’t think the dirty, over-populated, garbage infested Coney Island is a proper escape from the city. Unfortunately you need a car to get there — but lucky for us, Mare has given us access to one of those.

P.S. Yes Sunny has a broken arm.

People Continue to Prove Their Weirdness

Not the Sartorialist’s usual style, but this pic was certainly worth posting. Those colors, that Lower East Side dirty feel, and that insane tattoo. Makes me kind of inspired to ink some annoyingly common guy names on my chest: David, Michael, Matthew…No, no, no, not really. Just so unbelievably bizarre. Maybe her kids’ names?

You Disappoint Me California

I expected so much more of my home state...

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- The state Supreme Court has upheld a voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage, but also decided that the estimated 18,000 gay couples who tied the knot before the law took effect will stay wed.

I guess there is a little bit of good in a whole bunch of bad.

Balloon Obsession Cont.

Grizzly Bear has "caught on" with their Le Ballon Rouge video for their song “Two Weeks.” I like, of course.

Thanks A Cup of Joe.

Summer is Here, Here is my Song

I officially love Kurt Vile (the War on Drugs guitarist). I blogged about his perfectly named solo song "Beach on the Moon" awhile ago, but today I came across this beauty. "Freeway" is just what I look for in a summer anthem — airy, sweet, and lively with just the right amount of pop to make my head bop and my feet tap at my desk right now and my arms wave and twirl in a summer dress tomorrow. He’s playing at The Shank in June, let’s go!

Thanks for the reminder Ringo.

Fancy Feet

So since I have already started the day talking about the weird parts of me, might as well roll with it: So I have always been a bit pigeon-toed (a neurotic pigeon-toed person, yes) and I have always stood with my feet all twisted in a weird backwards fifth ballet position. I am well aware of and accepted this other habit of mine — my feet just don’t go the right way — but it still caught me by surprise when I came across this picture this morning. I went to a wedding while I was in SF, and just got sent the link to all the photos. Apparently the photographer thought my weird foot stance was worthy of a photo…

Nuerosis?

So I always have to walk on the left side of whomever I am walking with. By “have to” I mean if I don’t, I feel off mentally and won’t go back to normal until I am in my comfortable left side location. Most people oblige this strange habit/need of mine, while others like to fuck with me about for awhile until they give into the right. And actually people who I spend most of my time with gravitate toward the right naturally and have begun themselves to feel uncomfortable in my walking position. I actually dated a guy for way too long, who never really caught on to my walking habit, that should have been a sign right there.

Anyway, it’s not because of that man walking on the car side to protect the woman (I’m a feminist!) thing at all, and that wouldn’t always be on the left anyway. In fact, I am not sure where this strange tick of mine came from at all, but I will tell you that it is getting worse. This left side infatuation used to be strictly for standing up positions of movement (in fact I have to sleep on the right side of my bed, but I do have logical explanation for that one), but lately it has slipped into my sitting down behavior as well. And I now find myself having to be on the left side of a table at dinner or person at the movies. So, is it the older you get the crazier and more particular you become? Am I becoming (or is this) neurotic? For awhile I thought the older I got the more calm I was becoming. Hmm, I guess we shall see.

A Beautiful Curveball

My friend Miss Diebel just told me that life throws me “beautiful curveballs.” I am not so sure she is right, I mean I really hope she is, but sometimes it feels more like curveballs to the face. But anyway, a month ago there was no way I would ever have imagined that I would be going on a 17 day European vacation this summer, or any amount of days for that matter. But today, my flight was booked into Berlin and out of Rome (thanks for the loan Mikey!) and I couldn’t be more shocked and excited. A week spent in Berlin living it up with my bro, then a few days exploring in Rome, and then a Tuscan Villa with almost my entire family, plus the new baby! God I can’t believe I just wrote a blog about not being accustomed to the finer things in life, I feel like a royal brat right about now. But maybe it is just a wonderfully beautiful curveball.

Nice view, huh?
