Michael and India

To put it lightly, my brother is not a baby person. I mean none of us really are, but being around them so much has made myself and obviously Aaron change our ways. A little awkward and unsure of what to do when he first met Maisie, Michael wasn’t that big into holding her and such. And now that she is almost two and the scrappiest little kid ever, she is a whole new kind of intimidating. But there was something about India and Michael that just clicked. India is such a different little mellow being and it seems like she and Michael already have a connection. So cute.

Random Sunday

It is about to rain, which fits my mood today. Despite a wonderful weekend which included 65 degree weather(!), the park(!), and a candlelit introduction of a beautiful backyard into my circle friends (this summer will be amazing!) I am feeling a bit dreary this evening. This also pays homage to the ridiculous amount of umbrellas I have lost in the last three weeks.

Thanks for the pic ghost factory.

A Good Day For This...

I find this oddly amusing.

My Daily O

I found a(nother) grey hair today, but thank God I am not the only one. Those little friendly age/stress reminders seem be rapid firing into Barack’s locks as well. Now I don’t feel so bad that I spent twenty minutes in my work bathroom this morning extricating my new friend and searching for stragglers in my bangs. (The beauty of getting booted to the IT floor is the lack of ladies for the ladies room).

Being Pres sure is stressful, and it turns out that Presidents age two years for every year that they're in office. Pretty nuts. But Barack really isn’t the one graying prematurely. What is my excuse? I blame Bob Cahn and a few other things.

Think Positive Thoughts

A hearing takes place in San Francisco today regarding the terrible Proposition H8te that passed on Nov 5 banning same-sex unions. Hopefully the court will take it into their own hands and do what is right, even though sadly the people of California could not.

Winter Wardrobe

This is how you dress when live in a big old drafty house where you aren't allowed to turn the heat on and it's 20 degrees inside.

Sarah models the latest matchy matchy trend with style!

Courtney's plush hooded robes are all the rage!

A portable space heater is Megan's HOTTEST accessory. Not to mention the hunchback!

Guilty Pleasure

I bought my plane ticket to SF today (yay!), so I decided to check out who’s playing at my old favorite venues while I will be in town. Most of the stuff was still TBA, but I did come across my ultimate guilty pleasure band Her Space Holiday (pretty much poppy Bright Eyes) is playing at Bottom of the Hill. It won’t be while I am there, but they thing is I didn’t know they still existed. I guess I never really tried to look. I weirdly listen to their 2003 album on repeat when I am depressed, nostalgic or bitter-sweetly happy. So pretty much all the time! No, no, no. And yes I first started doing this in my good old San Francisco days. But now I know there is so much more (he seems quite less drugged out) to listen to when I am sweetly suicidal sentimental. Ssshhh. Don’t tell.

My Daily O

I had a dream that I went to the Obama's house last night. It was not the White House, but in fact a tree house looking place that you would probably find in the hills of Fairfax. Everything was chill until my dad and brother Michael showed up unannounced and ruined it all. Michelle then proceeded to kick us out. What does all this mean?

Random Sunday

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.—1962.

With tomorrow's weather forecast calling for a 100% chance of snow, while my friends in LA are enjoying 80 degree weather, I find myself once again dreaming of headscarves and convertibles; I'll even take the top up.

My Daily O

Apparently Michelle Obama is getting heat for wearing sleeveless dresses. Apparently it’s a sin to bare your arms (how many editors wrote Michelle’s “Right to Bare Arms” today; it’s just too easy) in a)Congress b)Winter c)if you’re over 40? I totally understand the cold thing, but the lady is inside and she’s got some pretty nice arms. Actually inspired me to go to yoga today, but some are saying it’s just not kosher and even comparing her arms to Madonna's. That is crazy talk — I say whatever to them.

“Oh my God,” Cindi Leive, Glamour editor, e-mailed the New York Times last night. “The First Lady has bare arms in Congress, in February, at night!”

She’s a Timid Blue Eyed Girl But — She Kills Bulls Without Qualms

My twin? Daniel thinks I look like this chick. I thought he was full of shit until I looked at this pic from last summer again. I guess it’s not so bad to look like the “Goddess of the Bullring.” Yes Conchita Cintrón was a matadorA, a bullfighter; she just died in Portugal at the age of 86. I have a tough ass doppelganger!

Here’s an excerpt I from the news story:

In 1949, Ms. Cintrón, who had fought in Mexico, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Portugal, Spain and France, declared she would give up bullfighting to get married if she should find a suitable man, an intellectual “who can dominate me,” she said in an interview with The New York Post. “All my professional life I have been dominating bulls, and I don’t want that to happen to the man I choose to marry.”

We all just want to be dominated, don’t we?

My Daily O

His administration will attempt to close the large fiscal gap even while starting a major health-care initiative intended to substantially extend coverage; to do so, it foresees increasing taxes on the wealthiest Americans and using revenue from a new program: selling carbon credits to manufacturers as part of a cap-and-trade plan meant to slow climate change.

Sounds like a plan.
