A Ray of Sunshine on a Cold Day

Okay that title might be a bit dramatic, but this little purchase certainly made my otherwise depressing winter day, and despite the frigid cold there was actually sunshine out there. Anyway, as some of you may already know I have been on the hunt for a leopard print coat for quite some time now. But with my sudden decrease in income as well as the winter winding down (I wish), I had all but given up...until this afternoon that is.

On my way to meet a friend for coffee (my new primary activity) I was riding my bike — quite fast I might add because it is too cold to be riding — past a little second-hand shop and there on the mannequin was a leopard print coat! I quickly pulled over, almost hit someone, and took a look. It wasn't the exact vintage one I was thinking about, but it was this season's Zara one below, and it was only 25 euro, and it fit, and now it's mine. A-MAZ-ING.

Here Kitty Kitty....

via Google Images and Bazaar

Every It Girl (yup MK and Alexa), fashion blogger (hello Liz and Rumi) and editor (the new Mademoiselle of French Vogue Emmanuel Alt and of course Joanna) has one, and despite that (ha!), I am still dying to get my little hands on my own. I mean, I am certainly not the first to do a leopard print coat post (obviously) and will definitely not be the last — they are so 1960s but so of-the-moment. They have been popular (not just for Italian grandmas) again for quite some time now (was Mary-Kate the first?), so long in fact, it seems they might become a true wardrobe staple rather than a passing trend.

It is no secret that I love me some leopard and pretty much own every other clothing item in the print, but I have been on the hunt (hehe, get it) for quite some time now and have not succeeded in finding a coat. I want one in a small print similar to Alexa's, which may in fact be cheetah. I have found a few that fit the bill, but they have been out of my price range, and the cheap ones seem to be the big fuzzy kind, and I am not into that. I have seen a few that work on etsy and ebay, but I am scared to buy a coat without trying it on. So, what is a girl to do?

Snow Leopard

All thrift, over-knee boots ALDO
After the most freezing night I have ever felt, I woke up and Berlin was completely covered in snow. I decided to wear a sheer over-sized leopard print blouse that I was planning to sell but somehow ended up in my closet — I tucked it into some jeans with some over-the-knee boots and voilà, snow leopard. I will admit that over-the-knee boots and leopard sounds provocative, but this was certainly far from that. Oh and of course I wore a cardigan, gloves, a coat, a hat and a really big scarf over it as well.
