The Only Thing I Love About LA...

The architecture. Those houses in the Hollywood Hills just make me want to once again wrap my hair in a headscarf, throw on some big sunglasses and sip a dirty martini as I bask in the late afternoon sun. Oh yes, the sun. Right about now (it’s still freezing) I can add that on to my list of things I love about La La Land, oh and of course my three dear dear friends who live there. Will you guys get a house like this please so we can play old records and live glamorously?

WTF!?! #3

At Least 14 Are Killed in Plane Crash in Montana... And they crashed into the Holy Cross Cemetery and burst into flames upon impact.

What the fuck is going on: skiing trips and plane crashes...Was this always how it was?

Now I feel guilty about putting Lindsay Lohan on my WTF list. She don't deserve it.

Random Sunday

I guess we are all just shit of luck then.

I am listening to Beck Sea Change, and that's never good...and certainly not a way to pump myself up for laundry day.

Thanks Ffffound.

Un Jour Venteux

Embarrassing moments can be oh so lovely in Paris. Let's go...

Thanks StyleSightings.

WTF!?1 # 2

I loved Jem and the Holograms, but this shit is just silly. Splash. Smash. Crash. Glam. Pink. Heart. Oh Lindsay.

WTF?!? Why?

So much for wishes, it was snowing today on my way to work! Snowing, yes! It's the first day of spring. This is absolutely uncalled for, so I gaze into this photo and imagine how I would feel if this really was my view.

My Daily O

Michelle Obama is putting a vegetable garden in the White House backyard, and she is having DC elementary students help her do it. This makes me happy. Because local food and health education is key, but also because my dad always had a one wherever we lived and still does, well not in his NYC apt. Have you ever tasted a tomato right off the plant? It’s the most amazing thing ever.

The Obamas will feed their love of Mexican food with cilantro, tomatilloes and hot peppers. Lettuces will include red romaine, green oak leaf, butterhead, red leaf and galactic. There will be spinach, chard, collards and black kale. For desserts, there will be a patch of berries. And herbs will include some more unusual varieties, like anise hyssop and Thai basil. A White House carpenter who is a beekeeper will tend two hives for honey.

Make a Wish...

Maybe this little mutant can grant it.

I wish for the sun to show it's face.

Song on Repeat: "Crazy Love, Vol. 2"

I got some disheartening but somewhat freeing bad news yesterday and for some reason ever since then I can’t stop listening to Paul Simon’s “Crazy Love, Vol. 2” over and over again.

Is that crazy, love?

And look at that sweet ‘stache/tight pants. Amazing.

Death Becomes Her...

I am sure some people would find this look a bit frightening, but I’m totally into it. You know I fall for almost everything she does. Maybe this one is just because my skin is a bit ghostly as well and my hair certainly has that rat nest thing going on.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

My uncle took this pic on St. Patty's Day (or the day of shamrocks and elves as my mom would say) in Dublin. Pretty amazing.

Ooops, I forgot to wear green.

Auntie Magel

Have I mentioned that I now have a new name among my family? Unbenost to one another, both Andrew and Catherine (they equal one) and then Maisie and crew, came up with this brilliant moniker. Yes Magel, like Bagel with an M. Yup, classy. When I visited Andrew and Catherine last year they found great enjoyment in making up songs about me using the name Magel, usually to some sort of jolly tune. They have a habit of breaking out into song at any given moment. Oh amour. And well Maisie you know, just tried to say Megan and out came Magel. So of course Aaron and Deanna caught on and then Michael, and behold Aunt Magel…

Team Hepburn or Team Monroe?

It’s the modern day Jen v. Angie, well without the husband stealing, baby farms and “uncool” quotes. I wonder if these two even knew each other...Anyway, after I posted the Marilyn entry the other day, Diebel got to talking about how women are either Marilyn girls or Audrey girls — the waif brunette versus the voluptuous blonde. But I have to say, I love them both — I even have a photo of each star on my mantel. The minute I am leaning toward Marilyn, I think of Audrey and her little black dress. And the minute I am leaning toward Audrey, I think of Marilyn and her tragically sad eyes. Maybe it’s just the Gemini in me but I think it might be just too hard for me to choose. Are you are Audrey or a Marilyn?

My Daily O

Michelle’s prom picture is pretty sweet, seems like she was always fashion forward and not afraid to show some skin. I mean look at that slit — that is some serious leg. If you got it, why not? I do understand how arms make more sense for her now though being in the White House and all.

So Much to Love

Oh Beth! Oh Kate! Oh little Kate Protégé! Oh cheeky pint! Oh pale girl with the red glasses! Brilliant.

Sometimes I Do Wish I Had Cable...

A Thin Line Between Fashion and Ridiculousness

Is it a dress? A sweater? An over-sized blazer? Whatever it is, I love it. I have always been a fan of over-sized anythings made into short short dresses, I would have to say it is one of my signature styles — so naturally I fell for this number. Garance Dore said this girl must have forgotten her skirt at home. I say, who needs a skirt?

Speaking of not wearing bottoms, yesterday I interviewed Jesse McCartney (oh my job) and as I was waiting for him I got into a conversation with his PR lady who also represents Lady Gaga. Of course I had to mention something about the fact that the pop starlet never wears pants; her response was so funny to me that I had to jot it down. In all seriousness with not even a hint of sarcasm (that is what made it so brilliant) she says to me:

“She doesn’t mind pants, she just happens to have a lot of outfits that don’t involve pants. But honestly, she has nothing against pants.”

Thank God, I thought she had some traumatic pants experience when she was younger or something. And I can’t really talk about Lady Gaga and her lack of wearing pants without relaying her infamous quote on the matter.

“My grandmother is basically blind, but she can make out the lighter parts, like my skin and hair,” the “Just Dance” star says. “She says, ‘I can see you, because you have no pants on.’ So I’ll continue to wear no pants so that my grandma can see me.”

Free Love Man

In high school I was a part of this program where instead of writing reports and taking tests about those necessary subjects, we wrote plays, put on performances and shot films to show what we’d learned. Oh to feel the free love of a teenager in hippie Marin. Maybe that’s what inspired me to convince my history teacher that Joan Baez was in fact a historical figure — no I just really wanted to wear flowers in my hair, a peasant blouse and bell-bottom jeans while carrying around my friend’s guitar when everybody else was dressed up as Abraham Lincoln and Harriet Tubman.

Isn’t that photo amazing? Thanks CS.
